We are currently seeking a Junior IT Security Analyst. This is a great opportunity to join our team as our Junior Cyber Security Analyst, where you will learn the skills and
techniques to triage security events and protect the IT infrastructure of the business (including networks, hardware, and software) from a range of cyber threats.
You will require a basic understanding of IT, including knowledge of computer networks, operating systems, software, and hardware.
As a junior team member key responsibilities will include assisting with security event monitoring, threat intelligence, investigations, and incident management. You will also begin to identify vulnerabilities across the business and work with the rest of the IT team on remediation.
Reporting to the IT Security Manager this is an entry-level, full-time position with a lot of scope for progression. The position is based in Derbyshire with some home working possible.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor for security incidents and perform initial analysis to determine if alerts require immediate
response and escalation
- Assist with incident response to contain, investigate, and mitigate future incidents.
- Respond to social engineering attacks, including ‘phishing’ emails.
- Daily monitoring of corporate email flow, which includes reviewing quarantined/held messages.
- Test and evaluate new security products.
- Assist in the creation and adoption of security policies, standards, and processes to include cyber
security awareness training.
- Help develop operational security requirements and implement appropriate controls.
- Assist with penetration and vulnerability testing across our systems.
- Identify solutions and controls which promote security automation best practices.
- Keep up to date with the latest security threat intelligence and emerging threats and make
recommendations as to how we can improve our security controls.
Essential Skills Required:
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and assess risks, threats, patterns, and trends.
- Demonstrable understanding of IT, including good knowledge of:
- Computer networks
- Operating systems
- Active Directory & Azure Active Directory
- Microsoft Exchange Online
- Attention to detail and an ability to work under pressure, particularly when dealing active threats.
- The ability to multi-task and prioritise your workload.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- A keen interest in cyber security & willingness to learn new skill and progress your career
