Job Description

At the Parliamentary Digital Service, we’re transforming the way Parliament does digital. We’re responsible for the digital output of all parliamentary services. Our goal is to bring together the public, Parliament Members, and Parliamentary staff to inform, engage, support, and communicate through one, unified digital core – PDS.

Protect the UK’s democratic process working as part of Parliament’s Cyber security team. Parliament is a historical institution steeped in tradition which has ambitious digital aspirations. It has to constantly evolve with the needs of the UK public. Parliament carries a unique set of risks and is under threat every-minute of every-day. The Cyber Team works together to come up with new ways of securing Parliament’s business objectives and allow the institution to thrive.

The Role

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining cyber security policies and promoting cyber security best practice amongst colleagues, customer and members of both houses across Parliament. Assess how proposed cyber security controls will align with existing organisational practices/priorities. Demonstrate sound understanding of the intended outcomes of the policy and what successful end-to-end delivery looks like.

You will also be responsible for communicating to both technical and non-technical senior audiences the intended outcomes of the policy and what successful end-to-end delivery looks like. Support the work of the Cyber Security Operations Centre by acting as the line of communication between it and senior stakeholders – providing updates on fast paced incidents.

The Requirements

To be successful in the role you will have the following skills/experience:

  • Experience of developing technical policy or guidance within an organisation – consulting relevant stakeholders and articulating, to those tasked with approving policies, how proposed cyber security controls will align with existing organisational practices/priorities.
  • Experience of developing knowledge and awareness of key cyber security concepts and the practices concerned with maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information systems and is aware of significant cyber security frameworks and legislation.
  • Experience of building good working relationships and of successfully facilitating collaboration between stakeholders, who have diverse objectives, to achieve a consensus.
