The purpose of the GSMA Security Team is to support our members by protecting the mobile telecommunications ecosystem. We are driven by the needs of our members and are required to understand their perspectives, challenges and opportunities; responding with relevant resources and services to help them mitigate key industry threats. The team seeks out and understands current threats, providing remedial guidance where required. The team is future facing, researching and understanding novel threats that may impact the industry in the years to come.

About the Role
The Mobile Telecommunications Security Specialist will bolster the technical expertise and service delivery capability within the GSMA security team, helping us to enhance the security resources and services that we offer to our membership. To do this you will work with industry security practitioners both from within the GSMA security team and from the wider mobile ecosystem.
Specific role deliverables will be agreed once the ideal candidate has been identified. Some potential deliverables for the role being:
- Reviewing, updating and supporting existing operational security processes designed to support industry engagement activities within the GSMA’s security team.
- Reviewing the value and effectiveness of the GSMA’s key security services, including Telecommunication Information Sharing and Analysis Center (T-ISAC) and Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure programme, and delivering enhancements to current offerings.
- Identifying additional domain areas, such as public key infrastructure enablers, in which GSMA can play an increased role in supporting industry needs.
About You
You will be a mobile telecommunications security subject matter expert, ideally with recent operational experience within a network operator’s (or network vendor’s) security operations functions.
You will understand the key security threats facing the mobile telecommunications industry today and ideally have experience of dealing with operational security implementations and/or threat and intelligence sharing. You will understand the operational challenges around security deployment and configurations, automated information sharing practices, etc. and offer solutions for overcoming these.
You will need to be able to express your views to a varied audience often via differing medium; including in person, video, verbal and written presentations.
You will be a team-player and must be able to deliver to agreed deadlines.
Desirable skills for the role include:
- A logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
- Awareness of global regulatory and geopolitical considerations within telecommunications security.
- Ability to obtain the respect of security professionals within GSMA members.
- Experience of working in multi-national, multi stakeholder environments.
- Knowledge of common mobile telecommunications security frameworks, their strengths, weaknesses and how they may be applied.
- Understanding of virtualisation, cloud and other IT security issues would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in scripting/coding (e.g. Python)
